Ave Toh

from$1,185.00 MXN

Toh is a decorative bird handwoven in Henequen fiber that commemorates the majesty of the Toh Birds, representative fauna of the local identity as the recognized bird in the region. The piece is the result of collaboration between designer Joel Escalona and the artisans of the Henequen workshop sewn during the Vision and Tradition residency program led by Design Week Mexico and Mexico Territorio Creativo. Care: It is suggested to dust with a semi-damp cloth.

The henequen fiber, a native agave from the Yucatan peninsula, has been used by the Maya since pre-Hispanic times for its resistant and durable composition. Henequen stitching is one of the techniques that arises from the use of the material, where the wet and combed fibers are rolled circularly forming layers that are sewn together to build everyday objects.
