The henequen fiber, a native agave from the Yucatan peninsula, has been used by the Maya since pre-Hispanic times for its resistant and durable composition. Henequen stitching is one of the techniques that arises from the use of the material, where the wet and combed fibers are rolled circularly forming layers that are sewn together to build everyday objects.
